Pregnancy School Project is a health education program in which we aim to provide pregnant women with the necessary information and education to receive pre- and post-natal care. We started this project for refugees in 2017 in cooperation with the Turkish Ministry of Health.

Within the scope of the project, we provided comprehensive training to women about pregnancy, birth and healthy pregnancy processes and provided medical and social support. For complex cases, we provided guidance on topics such as hospital procedures and referral procedures.

As part of the project implemented at Esenler Maternity Hospital, three educational sessions were held each month for Syrian expectant mothers. These sessions were conducted in a 6-hour practical format with consecutive interpretation. The training focused on topics such as pregnancy, postpartum care, newborn care, and family planning, aiming to correct women’s misconceptions and reduce maternal and child mortality in the long term.

A total of 306 women received training during the project period.
